The Threat But ARGUS Corporation sees the same city and wants to control it. ARGUS markets itself as peacekeeping infrastructure, but what it's building is a surveillance empire. And it's CEO is a puppetmaster who believes the fastest path to power runs through manufactured tragedy.

The Incident A covert agent discovers the puppetmaster's plan — buried in ARGUS servers. By chance, a woman — our heroine — working late, walks into a restricted server room to find the agent's pistol leveled at her face.

The evidence is on the screen: comms intercepts with a demostic terrorist cell. A contract for civil unrest. A seating chart for the gala celebrating the initiation of the ODG SA chapter — with one seat circled in red.

She doesn't call security. He pockets the drive and leaves. She stands alone in the dark — the puppetmaster's framed portrait smiling down from the wall behind her. And he saw the whole thing. Now, she is a liability he needs to dispose of.
